AFA Events and Volunteer Tasks
2012 Volunteer Job Descriptions
- Set Up & Break Down Crew (for all events)
Work with crew to set up or break down equipment, banners & signs, booths, 3rd Stage, move picnic tables/recycling & garbage bins, help site vendors, visual artists & artisans prepare for gates open and to close the park on Sunday night
- Greeter Team
Welcome and talk with the public about the Festival, hand out flyers, postcards, manage AFA Booths
- Safety/Security Team
Watch Festival gates, Beer & Wine Garden, Festival Marketplace, assist anyone with physical concerns and special needs
- Admissions Team
Collect admission fee/responsible cash handler, give out wristbands and tally numbers
* must have cash experience
- Retail Team
Sell AFA clothing and other items, responsible cash handler
* must have retail experience
- Kids Crew
Help children at the Craft Blast Zone, Kite Project, First Nations Art,
Music/Art Workshops
* must enjoy working with kids, music or art background
- 3rd Stage Crew
Coordinate events on the third stage – ensure acts are ready to go on time
* Stage management and /or sound production knowledge required
- Grounds Crew
Check town washrooms, check & refill port-o-potties and wash stands, keep park clean at all time, assist with York Region water truck
- Promotional Team
Speaker’s Corner, filming or snap pictures at each event including the Festival
* must own video camera and/or quality camera and/or have experience
- Back-up Team
Fill in where needed on all volunteer positions above.
- We need volunteers with First Aid, CPR & Smart Serve Qualifications
2012 Aurora Festival of the Arts (AFA) Events
- June 3 – Sunday – Aurora Street Festival AFA Booths 11am – 5pm
- July 1st – Sunday – AFA Booth @ Richmond Hill Home Show, Richmond Green, Richmond Hill –10:30am-5:30pm
- July 7th – Saturday -Art in the Park at the Aurora Farmers Market – AFA Booth, Town Park, Aurora –8am -1pm
- July 15th – Sunday – Fabulous Festival Fundraiser & Press Conference – at Jonathan’s Restaurant 2:30pm – 8:30pm – Need assistance with Silent Auction management; Press Conference at 6pm.
- July 21st – Saturday – Around the World Multicultural Tour – AFA Booth in Fairy Lake Park, Newmarket, 9:30am-4:30pm – Fairy Lake Park, Water Street
- July 28th – Saturday – Volunteer BBQ Town Park, Aurora – Mandatory for on-site pre-festival training – 1 – 4pm
- Aug 3 – 5 Aurora jazz+ Festival, Town Park, Aurora
